New Orleans Pelicans defeat New York Knicks 126-108 in their preseason opener.
The New Orleans Pelicans got their preseason off to a winning start with a 126-108 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. Brandon Ingram led the way for the Pelicans with 24 points, while Zion Williamson added 22 points and 10 rebounds. RJ Barrett led the Knicks with 21 points.
The Pelicans took control of the game early, jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter. They led by as many as 18 points in the second quarter before taking a 62-48 lead into halftime.
The Knicks briefly cut the lead to eight points in the third quarter, but the Pelicans quickly pushed the lead back to double digits. They led by 20 points with 6:18 remaining in the fourth quarter before eventually winning by 18.
The Pelicans were without several key players, including CJ McCollum, Herbert Jones, and Larry Nance Jr. But they got a strong performance from their bench, which outscored the Knicks' bench 40-19.
The Pelicans will be back in action on Friday night when they host the Chicago Bulls in their preseason home opener.
